Jewel Prom and Pageant | Lincoln, Nebraska
Frequently Asked Questions
Shopping at Jewel
Do I need an appointment?
Appointments are not required for prom, homecoming, social occasion, or tuxedo shopping. Walk-ins are always welcome!
Our Crown Jewel Appointment is required for our exclusive pageant showroom.
For our suit/tux clients shopping for their wedding day, we highly encourage booking a Wedding Look Consult appointment.
How many guests can I bring?
We recommend bringing no more than two guests. A smaller group helps keep the experience fun, relaxed, and focused on you.
Can I take pictures?
Absolutely! We encourage photos so you can compare your favorites and share them with family and friends.
Is there a limit to how many dresses I can try on?
To keep your fitting room organized, we bring in three dresses at a time. Don't worry—we're happy to keep pulling styles until we find the one!
Dresses
Do you duplicate dresses?
Not for our top designers like Sherri Hill and ASHLEYlauren! We sell one dress per color, per style. Once a dress is purchased in a specific color, we won't reorder it in that color.
For our private labels, you may see multiples of each.
What if my dress needs alterations?
Alterations are common and expected with formalwear. While we don't offer alterations in-house, we're happy to recommend trusted local seamstresses once you find "the one."
What sizes do you carry?
We believe everyone deserves to feel beautiful! Our boutique carries a wide range of sizes, with most in-store styles available in sizes 000–24. We also carry select styles up to size 38 and can special order additional sizes in many styles when available.
Do you have more dresses than what's online?
Yes! Our website features only a small selection of our inventory. Our showroom has hundreds of additional styles available in-store.
Pageants
Do I need an appointment for pageant shopping?
Yes. Our pageant showroom is available by appointment only through our Crown Jewel Appointment.
How far in advance should I shop?
We recommend shopping at least three months before your competition whenever possible to allow time for ordering and alterations.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring your competition shoes if you have them, along with any information about your pageant's wardrobe requirements.
Suits & Tuxedos
Should I rent or buy?
Our stylists can help you decide! We offer both rental and purchase options based on your event, timeline, and budget.
How early should I reserve my tuxedo?
For Prom: We recommend reserving your tuxedo at least one month before your event to ensure the best selection and a stress-free experience.
For Weddings: We recommend starting the process several months before your wedding so there's plenty of time to choose your wedding party's look and coordinate everyone involved. Once your styles have been selected, party members should be measured 6–9 weeks before the wedding to allow enough time for ordering and any necessary adjustments.
Do you offer custom-tailored suits?
No. We do not offer custom-tailored suits. Our suits and tuxedos are ordered in standard manufactured sizes and selected based on your measurements to provide the best possible fit. Minor alterations are common and can help achieve a more tailored look.
Can my wedding party live in different states?
Absolutely! Whether your wedding party is spread across Nebraska or across the country, we've got you covered. Groomsmen can submit their measurements remotely, and we'll take care of the rest. Once their order is ready, it can be shipped directly to their home for added convenience, so everyone arrives prepared for your wedding day.
Orders & Policies
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
No. All formalwear merchandise is non-refundable. An exchange for in-store credit is available within 14 days of purchase with original tags attached.
Can you hold a dress for me?
To ensure every customer has an equal opportunity to purchase their favorite style, we do not place dresses on hold. If you find a dress you love, we recommend purchasing it while it's available.
Before You Visit
Wear the Right Undergarments
If you're shopping for dresses, nude, seamless undergarments are always a great choice. Most formal dresses include built-in bra cups, so many customers find they don't need to wear a bra while trying on dresses.
If you'd like additional lift, coverage, or support, ask your stylist about BOOMBA! They can help you determine whether it's a good option for your dress and show you the styles we carry.
Come With an Open Mind
You know your style—but our stylists know our inventory! Sometimes the dress you never would've picked is the one you can't stop thinking about. Trust us to pull a few surprise options.
Shop Early
The earlier you shop, the more styles, sizes, and colors you'll have to choose from. It also leaves plenty of time for any alterations that may be needed.
Alterations Are Normal
Almost every formal dress or purchased suit (not a rental) benefits from alterations. They're a normal part of achieving the perfect fit, so don't be discouraged if a few adjustments are recommended.
Trust the Process
You don't have to know exactly what you're looking for when you walk in—that's what we're here for! Our stylists will ask questions, learn about your event, and guide you through the process. Some of our favorite "yes" moments have come from dresses customers almost didn't try on.
