New to Pageants? Things to Keep in Mind
Shopping for your first pageant can feel overwhelming—but don't worry! Here are a few things to keep in mind before you start shopping.
Shop Early
We recommend purchasing your pageant attire at least 3 months before your competition. This allows plenty of time for alterations, accessories, and any special orders if needed.
Alterations Are Normal
Almost every pageant outfit will need alterations for the best fit. Don't be discouraged if something isn't perfect off the rack—that's completely expected!
Every Phase Has a Different Purpose
Many pageants include multiple phases of competition, such as Interview, Fun Fashion, and Evening Gown. Be sure to check your pageant's handbook so you know exactly what attire is required before shopping.
Bring the Right Shoes
If you already have competition shoes, bring them to your appointment! The height of your shoes can make a big difference when evaluating gown length and fit.
Trust the Process
You don't have to know exactly what you're looking for. Many contestants arrive with one idea in mind and leave with something completely different. Keep an open mind—our stylists are here to help you discover what looks and feels your best.
Complete the Look
The gown is just the beginning! The right accessories can completely transform your pageant look.
We proudly carry Stefanie Somers earrings, with both in-stock options and custom color combinations available to perfectly complement your outfit. If you'd like to customize a pair, we recommend allowing 2–3 months for production and delivery.
We also offer BOOMBA inserts—a reusable insert that provides lift, shape, and support for gowns with challenging necklines or open backs. They're a pageant favorite and can make a big difference in how a gown fits and photographs on stage.
